  1. Is there any way to archive the local basketball games? It would be nice to choose a game and watch it on my own time as opposed to live or a set replay time. If not,no problem..this is a very nice service you are providing.

  2. Could you use a high definition Canon HF200 camera to do the games? And if so would the quality of the picture be any better on the internet?

  3. Yes, the picture would be better, but most of the quality limitations are due to the internet speeds, highly variable as you probably know. The camera used brought by another volunteer, is around ten years old. It still has a nice picture for it's time. Our repeat cable broadcasts and DVD's of games bypass the internet and look very good. The newer high definition cameras such as the HF200, although only the standard definition outputs are usable by us, have an excellent picture. It is all the fast motion of the games that is hard for the internet to keep up with, but we are sure that will continue to improve. So the bottom line for now is yes, the picture would be sharper but the motion would still be a little jerky.

    Thank You for your interest!

  6. Thanks for your questions about watching the channel. I'm sure there are other viewers with similar issues. 'Sorry you had trouble.
Keep in mind that although the channel is on 24X7 and you can view it anytime, there is a gap and it would be black for about 90 minutes when we travel to a remote site and set up (before a game). Once we are back on, we check the channel and verify that it is working properly. There may be no sound at first as the announcers are not there for the JV games but we leave the camera on for verification of video. The sound begins with the Varsity games. New switching equipment will enable us to go to the live feed, only when ready and prevent this confusion. Check the channel anytime at the link found on this blog or at wctvmaine.com
